Chief Aaron Ausmus, Dalworthington Gardens DPS

I have been honored to be the Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police for Dalworthington Gardens, TX (DWG) since March 1, 2016.  Prior to DWG DPS, I served with the Galveston Police Department. I promoted to Sergeant in December of 2006.  I served as a commander from 2009 until leaving for DWG. I am happily married since 2001 and we have 3 young children. Prior to my law enforcement career, I worked as a Licensed Paramedic for the Galveston Area Ambulance Authority serving the City of Galveston.

Prior to my EMS career, I worked in the Industrial Health, Safety, and Environmental Services for Halliburton while also serving as a volunteer firefighter and medic for the Friendswood Fire Department and the Channelview Fire Department.  I play and coach recreational sports, hunt and fish as hobbies, and spend as much time with family as possible.  I enjoy serving and volunteering with organizations that attempt to empower society and social justice practices.


Associates of Applied Sciences Degree, Emergency Medical Technology – San Jacinto College

Bachelor of Science Degree, Criminal Justice with an emphasis on Communications – University of Houston-Downtown.

I graduated Sigma Cum Laude, Master of Science Degree, Criminal Justice Leadership and Management – Sam Houston State University.

Master Peace Officer License for the State of Texas.

Licensed Paramedic – Texas Department of State Health Services with over 2000 hours of EMS Training. Texas Certified Public Manager Vocational Program Graduate – Sam Houston State University Continuing Education Programs.

I have over 6500 hours of training that has been reported to Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
