Edward Fishman: Introduction to Bomb Squad Response

Lieutenant Ed Fishman has been with the Fort Worth Fire Department for 18 years. Since 2008, he has served in the Arson and Bomb Investigations Unit as a Bomb Technician and Arson Investigator. He graduated the FBI’s Hazardous Devices School (HDS) in 2010. He is currently the Bomb Squad Commander. Since 2008, Ed has responded to 82 bomb or explosives-related incidents and has conducted over 400 fire origin and cause investigations.

His certifications include: TCOLE Advanced Peace Officer; FBI HDS-certified Public Safety Bomb Technician; FBI-certified Tactical Bomb Technician; DHS Office of Bombing Prevention Bomb-making Materials Awareness Program Outreach; Provider; TCFP-certified Arson Investigator; IAAI Certified Fire Investigator; TCFP-certified Instructor II; TCOLE Basic Instructor; TCFP-certified Structural Firefighter; TCFP-certified HAZMAT Technician; TDH Licensed Paramedic; and ALERRT CRASE Instructor.

Ed has received advanced training in Explosive Disposal Techniques; Homemade Explosive Identification, Processing and Disposal; Advanced Electronics; Person-borne IED’s, and Post-Blast Investigations.

His professional affiliations include International Association of Bomb Technicians, International Association of Arson Investigators, International Association of Firefighters, and the Tarrant County Arson Task Force.
